How sweet it is

We were undermanned, underexperienced and supposedly outclassed.

Little did the Chardonnay set of Sydney Swines supporters expect a Magpies team filled with debutants to give them a football lesson in spirit and toughness at the stoppages and close contests. Although by now they should now to expect that the Magpie Army is ever present and ever vocal.

As you can read here even Tim Shame is getting on the Magpies bus after that spirited victory, where the only time the Swans got a sniff was at the bottom of the packs.

Running out victors by 19 points 10.16 (76) to 8.9 (57)- a fantastic highlight of the game was Magpie first gamer Martin Clarke getting 20 touches and shutting down two experienced Swans forwards first Schneider and then Buchanan. Pies spotted Clarke in Ireland 10 months ago (fellow Irishman turned Sydney Swan Tadgh Kennelly notes he was the Gaelic Football equivalent of the next Chris Judd!!). Now after playing only a handful of games (literally the 14th time he has played a game of Australian Rules) he's dominating at the top level.

About the only thing that could have surprised all attending was the return of a prodigal son, one Uncle Rob Pender (centre of picture). Sponsored by Reschs DA, the big man returned to the fold and donned the Black and White for the first time in nearly two decades.

Welcome back to the greatest club on earth Uncle Rob.

Dear Author,

We have it on good advice that the big man left the fold the next day due to a sad lack of DA. Unfortunatley there were no more fools available to part with their hard earned moola. However I understand the donation by the ahem, ahem, ah pies fanatics was very much appreciated.

Go the Sharks!

Signed, Yours Sincerely,

The One Night Stander (in the middle)!

Dear One Night Stander,

Alas you forget, that this wonderful club does not ever abandon its own - no matter how often they walk away. We will continue part with our hard earned until the day you remember that there's no leaving Collingwood - it remains with you forever.

I'm told by a little birdie that some looks upon your face that fabled evening may have given it away as we flogged the Sydney Swines into submission - there's Black and White in those veins still!

Yours in black and white forever,
The Brisbane Boy
