Our great country

Not much posting lately - in the middle of two mega projects at work which having me on ridiculous hours and struggling to get through to a holiday in mid-November, when I'll be enjoying some much needed time with the fam. At the moment I'm journeying around Australia - visiting every capital over the next two weeks.

Whilst the 'joy' of airline travel can be left to the expletive of your choice - one thing I do enjoy is seeing the variety, the beauty and the purity of our landscape. From red dust to beaches, mountains to plains - it all rocks.

It's similarly amazing how quickly one can be shaken from this serenity by two political parties spending their way into a job. I would have thought offering money to get a job somewhat unethical, particularly when the outcome of that spending is going to trigger inflationary pressures that mean more financial hardship on the people you are trying to seduce.

But sadly, it's not me-tooism that is the problem with this election, is the me me me'ism of the polity that rampantly encourages the barreling for votes. We'll vote for anyone who gives us $5 more in the pocket next year - bugger the rest, it's all about me.

Think I'll keep looking out my little airline window and hope that, one day, we may all see and care for that which lies beyond our own patch of turf.
