As the world focuses in on the post-Kyoto framework in Bali (nice summary here) - it prompted me to get off my butt and look at green energy options.
If like me you hate trawling company websites or ringing round then trying to sift out how much of what they have told you is marketing gumph and how much is really true - it's great to find out places who have done the leg work for you.
First things first, make sure it is on the GreenPower accreditation list. These products are endorsed by a collection of state governments that manage the GreenPower program.
But if you're lazy like me - you'll love the Green Electricity Watch site. It gives you rating for how 'green' the product actually is and how much it will cost.
It's a good question to ask ourselves - what price do you put on preventing human induced climate change destroying our children's future?

A good laugh
It was only a matter of time before someone did something more with the Kevin07 and 007 connection. Not a political ad to make much of a policy position on - but funny...

Our great country
Not much posting lately - in the middle of two mega projects at work which having me on ridiculous hours and struggling to get through to a holiday in mid-November, when I'll be enjoying some much needed time with the fam. At the moment I'm journeying around Australia - visiting every capital over the next two weeks.
Whilst the 'joy' of airline travel can be left to the expletive of your choice - one thing I do enjoy is seeing the variety, the beauty and the purity of our landscape. From red dust to beaches, mountains to plains - it all rocks.
It's similarly amazing how quickly one can be shaken from this serenity by two political parties spending their way into a job. I would have thought offering money to get a job somewhat unethical, particularly when the outcome of that spending is going to trigger inflationary pressures that mean more financial hardship on the people you are trying to seduce.
But sadly, it's not me-tooism that is the problem with this election, is the me me me'ism of the polity that rampantly encourages the barreling for votes. We'll vote for anyone who gives us $5 more in the pocket next year - bugger the rest, it's all about me.
Think I'll keep looking out my little airline window and hope that, one day, we may all see and care for that which lies beyond our own patch of turf.

Rampaging Magpies crush Sydney
"FITTINGLY, it was Collingwood skipper Nathan Buckley who kicked the sealer" The Age
The King has returned - after being absent nearly all season - The King has returned. Just look at that typical image - Buckley, focus determined on the footy, two opponents just hoping to keep up with him and in the end just chasing the Alpha Male's Tale.
And not that we needed inspiration, but I hope the Swans have learnt that suggesting their two losses to us earlier in the year were "embarrassing" may not have been exactly a smart move. Well last night was the biggest margin between these Clubs for many a year.
COLLINGWOOD 6.5 8.9 13.12 18.17 (125) SYDNEY 1.4 7.5 9.8 13.9 (87)
GOALS Collingwood: Rocca 6, T. Cloke 3, Rusling 3, Buckley, Davis, Didak, Medhurst, Pendlebury, Swan. Sydney: O'Loughlin 4, Davis 2, Malceski 2, J. Bolton, Fosdike, Hall, Kirk, Schneider
BEST Collingwood: Rocca, Shaw, Pendlebury, T Cloke, Buckley, Swan, Davis. Sydney: Goodes
The victory resounding, the glory immense, the journey as yet incomplete.
Next for the Wiggles at Subiaco, where we shall turn the 'House of Pain' in to the 'House of the Lame'.

New Foo
If you know me, you know I love the Foos. More specifically, Dave Grohl is da man.
A new album out on September 25 and the first single does not disappoint. Either catch it on their myspace site or have a squiz at this live version.

Sceptic Tank
"For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels..."
No, I dare not compare my lastest track to one of the best ever as immortalised by Frank. But the sentiment drives one to being a little outspoken when it is required - and so it is now for me.
It's been a little while since I've felt the fabric of the song before I put pen to paper, but when Tony and I started writing the music shortly after discussing climate change over a pot of coffee - it all just flowed.
Oh, and in the words of Good Morning Vietnam "just play it loud - ok!"

The Constanza Doctrine
Possibly one of the best "so true it's not funny but I can't stop laughing" articles I've ever read. In an article in the Diplomat Magazine titled "The Costanza Doctrine" Michael Fullilove of the Lowy Insititute compares the Iraqi incursion to a famous Seinfeld episode. Take 5 minutes and get a whole new perspective on the past 5 years.
